The dog enclosure is the park's real social club — the same faces twice a day, standing in a circle by the gate while the dogs sort themselves out. First light and again once it's dark are the two shifts; between them it's dead.

The play area on the corner nearest the hospital is where the barrio's parents park themselves — it's the shaded end, so it fills first and stays full while the open middle of the park is still empty. In July nobody's there until the sun is off it, then it's packed until well past kids' bedtime.

The park is new enough that the middle lawn still feels unclaimed, so it's where teenagers and twentysomethings sit with a speaker on the slope — far enough from the playgrounds that nobody complains. Blankets go on the mound side; the flat grass gets left for frisbee and dogs.

The concrete courts at the far end from the hospital run informal five-a-side and pick-up basketball most evenings — turn up and you get rotated in. The bars next to them are a separate crowd who come alone and don't mix with the court games.
