The zoo left for Bioparc years ago but the peacocks stayed and walk around loose here, so this is where you take small kids — they follow the birds up and down the pergola path for an hour. The empty enclosures around it are the shadiest benches in the park, which is why the grandparents sit there and not on the lawns.

Every July this corner gets fenced off in black cloth for the Vivers concerts, and you can hear the soundcheck from three streets away. Locals who don't have tickets sit on the grass outside the fence on the Jaume Roig side and listen for free; when it's all struck down in August the grass underneath is dead flat and yellow for the rest of the summer.
