Mostly eating, sitting out to watch the light go, and kids on bikes and scooters across the open middle; Sunday mornings a small collectors' market along the flower stalls. Probably busiest on weekend evenings.
Now that the cars are gone the flat middle is the biggest hard surface in the centre and kids treat it as one — bikes, scooters, ball games, running loops — while the adults sit round the edges. Weekend evenings it's more of a playground than a civic square.
