Once the ticket queues are gone in the evening the low stone edges along the pools become local sitting-out space — feet in the water, kids paddling the shallow rim, on summer nights when the flats are unbearable. Daytime it's all photographs; after dark it's people from the streets two blocks away.

Everyone photographs the buildings; locals sit on the pool coping with their legs over the water instead, because the water and the white stone keep that edge cooler than anywhere else out there. Dangling feet is tolerated, actually getting in is not — someone will come over.
